
Dark cherry dutch baby
An elegant and decadent yet simple breakfast that will satisfy the whole family
Equipment
- Cast iron skillet
- Blender
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup unbleached all purpose flour
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 3 eggs at room temperature
- 3/4 cups whole milk at room temperature
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, soften
- 1 cup frozen dark cherries, thawed or fresh cherries
- powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Gather your ingredients. Ensure the eggs, milk and butter are at room temperature.

- Preheat the oven at 425 degrees. Place a large cast iron skillet in the oven to heat.
- In a blender, combine the wet ingredients (eggs, milk, vanilla) and blend for a few seconds. Add the flour, sugar and salt and blend for about 1 minute.1/2 cup unbleached all purpose flour, 2 tbsp granulated sugar, 1/2 tsp salt, 3 eggs at room temperature, 3/4 cups whole milk at room temperature, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

- Remove the hot skillet and add the butter allowing to melt and start sizzling.3 tbsp unsalted butter, soften

- Add the liquid mixture and drop the cherries laying them evenly on the pancake.1 cup frozen dark cherries, thawed

- Bake until the dutch baby is golden and the edges are crisp. This will take about 18 minutes.
- Remove from the oven and serve hot with a dusting of powdered sugar.powdered sugar for dusting
